The Soo Curlers Association thrives thanks to the dedication of volunteers who keep our programs and events running year-round in Sault Ste. Marie. From volunteer instructors sharing their love of the sport to skilled volunteers supporting events, livestreams, and facility needs, every contribution makes a real difference while providing meaningful experience and connection.

Volunteer Opportunities

We’re looking for volunteers with a wide range of skills to help our curling and pickleball club thrive, including:

  • Trades & Maintenance: carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, ice maintenance, painting, general repairs

  • Volunteer Instructors: Share your passion for curling or pickleball with members of all ages.
  • Events & Programs: coaching, officiating, scorekeeping, event setup and teardown, hospitality

  • Marketing & Media: photography, videography, graphic design, social media, website support

  • Business Support: bookkeeping, accounting, sponsorship outreach, fundraising

  • Community Engagement: volunteer coordination, program development, communications

1. What types of volunteers do you need?

We welcome all kinds of help! From instructors and event assistants to volunteers with trades skills, marketing expertise, or experience in hospitality, there’s a role for everyone.

2. Do I need to know curling or pickleball to volunteer?

Not at all. While we love volunteers who play the sports, many roles—like event support, maintenance, or livestream production—don’t require prior experience.

3. How much time do I need to commit?

You can give as much or as little time as you’re able. Some roles are one-time for specific events, while others are ongoing.

4. Can I volunteer with my friends or family?

Absolutely! We encourage group volunteering and will do our best to schedule you together.

5. Are there any age requirements?

Most roles are open to adults and teens, but some positions may have minimum age requirements for safety reasons.

6. What will I get out of volunteering?

You’ll gain meaningful experience, meet new people, learn new skills, and help grow a vibrant sports community in Sault Ste. Marie. We also celebrate our volunteers through Volunteer of the Month and Volunteer of the Year awards, along with special recognition events to show our appreciation for your contributions.
